VIP tour of St Paul's

The dish team were lucky enough to be treated to a VIP tour of St Paul's Cathedral last week and what a treat it was! Alongside Vanessa and Rosie we were shown the secret library housing thousands of old books with a small 20 of these having survived the Great London Fire. The library had that amazing smell of old books and we really felt so lucky to be in the building let alone in the library. We were then shown the endless staircase which is a stunning spiral staircase well known for its starring role in Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes. We were shown in to the model gallery with a to scale model version of Sir Christopher Wren's architectual design and the evolution of the designs from conception through to execution. Following this we took the (slightly scary) trek up the staircase to the Whispering Gallery, Stone Gallery and the really high up Golden Gallery.

We had a fantastic afternoon at the famous Cathedral and once we returned to the safety of the ground floor we realised just how high up we had been and how fortunate to have been shown some historical and famous parts of the building.

A huge thank you to our tour guides at the Cathedral and thank you for a wonderful tour.
